Does anybody know anything about the shooter yet beyond the name and age? Has there been a note? Or a manifesto? Was he alone?

Not much. Some pictures people have dug up, of the kid, it looks like he had a cleft lip repair as a child, and something a bit sideways about his face. Possible congenital issues? That is pure speculation on my part.

…and Childers over at C&C is following. Hasn’t got much about shooter, but he generally does a good job of considering sources before posting them, to avoid aggregating every passing rumor that’ll turn out to be bogus tomorrow.

It’s looking increasingly like the shooter is a disturbed kid with no particular political views.
The real scandal is the Secret Service fail which is, indeed, massive.

Inexcusable and scandalous. They failed at a very basic level; if I were Trump I’d be looking into private security.
If anything it also shows how American institutions keep degrading.

The sheer incompetence and bumbling silliness are astounding. This needs to be investigated, and these agents should look for other jobs.

Yeah. In the current environment, probably every third county has a potential shooter– some brain-damaged kid with access to weaponry. I’d be shocked if several hadn’t tried already, and simply not been able to work out logistics.
The scandal is that if you neglect security long enough, and consistently enough, one of them’s going to make it on a rooftop and have a go at it… and this ended up killing a decent, loved, family man who had nothing to do with it.
