Self-inflicted

Many more people in this country know who Jennifer Aniston is than who JD Vance is. And I mean, enormously more. But instead of turning on some charm, complimenting Aniston, and using this interview as an opportunity to moderate his remarks and say something nice about a mega popular celebrity, this useless fellow loses his cool and flutters around like a hysterical spinster. “Disgusting!” he whines, showing that he can become unsettled by a social media remark and can’t be trusted to keep his cool even in the most trivial situations imaginable.

This is somebody who couldn’t bring more voters to the campaign to save his life.

  1. Kamala is so unappealing that JV just needs to serve up red meat and takes for the base.

“Triggered by the thought of being a grandfather in the far future” isn’t going to hurt the campaign at all.

He should’ve gone with a line about being a Marine and a lawyer and a hillbilly who is ready to fight and who can and will hit his daughter’s future prom dates if they look at her funny.

That’s a very popular train of thought for memes, social media posts, t-shirts, etc.

    1. Instead of trying to imitate Trump – for which he has neither the physicality nor the personality – he should have embraced a persona of a slightly nerdy, intellectual type. This would have been a nice addition to the campaign. Instead, he tries to imitate Trump and seems not to understand that only Trump can pull off Trump.

      1. From what I understand, Trump need to expand his base and appeal to undecided voters in other to win. JD Vance brings nothing to the table to increase the Trump ticket’s appeal. So far, Vance seems like a terrible choice.

There is also the possibility that other better alternatives simply turned him down to save their careers.

        1. Exactly. I’m undecided and Vance is putting me off in a major way. Every day, he puts his foot in his mouth, and unlike Trump, he can’t afford it because he has zero charisma. I’ve known kitchen appliances with a better charisma than this dude.

    I’m of two minds here….

One: Trump the terrible judge of employee potential strikes again! He really is hopless…

Two: It’s on purpose cause Trump’s ego won’t let him have an associate who could actually help him because he wants all the credit himself.

Of course a combination of the two is also possible.

Worst. Election. Ever….. The prospect of Hillary vs Jeb from 2016 is starting to look good….

    1. It’s real. Mainstream media hasn’t been reporting it, but Trump’s mental sharpness has also taken a nosedive. I think he was trying to say this is the last time he will need voters’ support, but it came out wrong..

    2. He’s not saying that he’ll take away the Christians’ right to vote. He’s saying elections won’t be a life-and-death issue any more, so people will be able to be as apolitical as they wish.

The press is trying to create drama over anodyne comments that have no import.

The US has reached the stage of political dissolution that people are reduced to not listening to politicians but needing to actively interpret what they’re saying…

I’m reminded of a Polish song from the late 1980s which uses the metaphor of an isolated train station where nothing works and no one know anything to describe the state of the country….

“So I sit on my luggage in front a big loudspeaker
Listening for static inside before others can hear
I can’t wait for the loudspeakers to be taken down
But the wait goes on and on, in this filthy station”

          1. At the same time, Kamala’s campaign dared to say the unpronounceable words that Trump is scared of saying:

White men are the only demographic Trump lost in 2020 compared to the 2016 election. Will he finally dare to appeal to his most important supporter group? Will he have the courage to say their name?

Or will Kamala and Pete have more guts and be the only ones to pronounce the word “white” in a positive way?

        2. I didn’t immediately, which is why I had to ask.

I still don’t know if this was intentional or not. It definitely aligns well with a post truth strategy where words don’t really mean what they usually means, but instead they’re up for interpretation.

  3. Yeah. Got caught up for a moment there in the whirlwind of feelz.

But now we’re back to writing in “Literally Anyone Else” for president…

Hezbollah rocket kills 11 children, injures over 20 in Majdal Shams.

Emergency services report Hezbollah munition exploded in soccer field in northern Druze town; Netanyahu to hold situation assessment; Foreign Minister Israel Katz: ‘We are approaching full-scale war with Hezbollah and Lebanon

The spiritual leader of the Druze community, Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, condemned the attack. “We are in great shock from the horrific massacre in the Druze village, an atrocious and murderous terrorist attack that struck innocent children playing soccer. The sight of the children’s shattered bodies strewn across the grass is indescribable,” he said.

A civilized country cannot allow the continuous harm to its citizens and residents. This has been the reality for nine months in the northern communities. Tonight, it crossed every possible red line.”
