A Maryland man is sharing an alleged incident of racism at his local Chick-fil-A after an employee labeled his to-go order for “Monkeys” instead of his name, “Marquise.” https://t.co/JecKVHl10G

What does it say about me that baristas routinely hear my name as “Alpha”?

I’m not sure I’ve ever had someone take down my name correctly, over a speaker or phone, on the first try.
Should I be accusing them of racism to try and extort an out-of-court-settlement?

as we know, “it is not whether racism occurred in any interaction between whites and blacks, but rather how did it occur.”
this is the mantra of the DEI proponents, so having heard that or some similar form of that, since approx 2012, is it any wonder ppl are inventing racist incidents?
the example I like to give
A black person walks into store and is ignored = racism. “They don’t think I’m worthy of being helped” Black person walks into store and worker rushes over to attend them = racism “they rushed over because they think I am going steal and they want me to know they are watching.”
Racism is always there (in the unhealthy mental narrative of the person).

I would bet money the server wrote Markeys or Morkeys because that’s what Marquise sounds like, and maybe autocorrect got involved. If you don’t spell it, they will write it however they guess it’s spelled. My name gets misspelled 98% of the time on orders, often even after I spell it for them. People mistype; it’s not that big a deal. I cannot imagine any poor soul working at a Chick-fil-A is looking to slight someone on account of race, WTF

These workers tend to not be great spellers, hence the job choice.
