Current Situation

Public education is being dismantled through disinvestment, budget cuts, and left-wing ideology that forces public universities to accept utterly unprepared and incapable students in the name of diversity.

Socialized medicine, where it exists, is dismantled through austerity. Euthanasia is hailed as a wonderful solution to the healthcare systems that don’t have resources to treat patients.

Populations that are capable of noticing these changes and being unhappy about them are being replaced with populations that aren’t.

Policing is being not so much dismantled as reoriented towards silencing any unhappiness among the public with these developments.

The free press is fully dedicated to distracting attention from these happenings.

  1. I’ve seen this while working in public schools as a substitute teacher in northeast New Jersey, especially as I work through an agency which works with low-income districts.

A lot of the schools are ancient relics from the 1930s with a jerry-built addition from the 1960s glued onto the original building, often without air conditioning or with boilers that should be in a museum. The textbooks are either over 20 years old or cheap softcover books that look like hell at the end of the year, if there’s a school library, it only has really old moldy books or picture books for toddlers.

Many of the kids are thick as posts and have trouble doing anything that’s not on a computer, they don’t know how to look up words in a glossary or do math problems with a pencil. Many of them read well below grade level and can barely write or spell, but they know all about the latest TikTok fad or pop star antics. Virtually all the kids are children of color with the only white kids being Eastern European children whose parents can’t afford private school. And supposedly New Jersey is at the top for education, I don’t want to see what the bottom states look like

      1. “quite extraordinary in its naked cynicism”

And I’d say a pretty clear representation of the Weltanschauung of the Western European political class…

I like the term that Harrington uses ‘work units’… that’s what we are to both democrats and republicans (or labour and tories or whatever).

Fungible items to be mined for capital and then discarded….

And they get away with it by distracting the public with fairytales like Floyd, the patron saint of fentanyl (martyred by police) or St Dyland the patron saint of the gendered soul (martyred by people that didn’t buy his beer).
