Harris’s favorability increased dramatically due to absolute nothing she did besides becoming a Dem candidate through no effort of her own. The media told the public they must love her, and the public obediently did.
Nobody who remembers the COVID era can be surprised. There’s a significant part of the population that will saw off its own arm if the TV tells them to.
Most curiously, these are always the people who love the dumb cliché “critical thinking.”
Most people don’t pay that much attention to the media. I think her surge in popularity is largely attributable to her being not-Trump and not-Biden. I don’t know anyone other than absolutely diehard partisans who was really excited about voting for Trump or Biden. You could have put pretty much any 50 to 60 something in on either side of this race and they would have gotten a huge surge in popularity.

Are people excited now? Is it only the age or something else? I don’t have a horse in this race but I’d like to have one. 🙂

Well, Trump is rallying on my campus tonight. I’ll keep the excite-o-meter on and see if I can get any readings.

We never get any interesting rallies. Or any rallies, period. This is what comes from being a state where everything is decided in advance.
Well, we do have a proposition to unattach ourselves from the Cook County. I’ll vote yes for all the good it will do.

What if one side or the other adopted the the strategy of deliberately lying or not even answering opinion polls? That could be happening if one side or the other wanted to hide their real strength – check out Sun Tzu

Of course, polls are dumb and often make mistakes. But I’m seeing this in my town where Harris yard signs sprang up like mushrooms overnight. People who laughed at Harris are now suddenly very into her.

I note that they report only “favorability” NOT who is ahead in who likely voters plan to vote for. She must not look as good on that question.

Polls don’t reflect public opinion anymore. Polls shape them.
Showing Harris leading right now will make it easier for them to rig (oops, I meant “fortify”) the election if it’s close.

the dumb cliché “critical thinking.”
Yeah, right? If thinking is not critical, it’s not thinking.

“Critical thinking” has come to mean “stupid recitation of left-wing slogans.” I’ve so had it with this cliché.
