Left or Right?

Without looking it up, can you guess if this dude is on the left or the right?

No, you can’t because anti-Americanism has conquered the entire political spectrum. Both left and right gladly pick up every libel that some tawdry dictator wields against their own country and slobber over it happily.

Forty years of “America bad” education, and people no longer ever notice that they are filled with self-hatred. Of course, nobody is going to procreate or do anything to ensure their culture continues if they are convinced that culture is terrible.

  1. I think a part of it might be some peoples inability to deal with uncertainty. They need a strong narrative to believe in and if their faith in the narrative is shattered, they go in the completely opposite direction.
So as children they heard “America is the greatest country on Earth” and believed it wholeheartedly, then they grew up, discovered America has its issues, like any other country, but instead of realising America is still better than 90% of the rest of the world, they think it’s totally evil. It’s immature, but it’s quite widespread.

Danish versions of these people will throw out “Actually Denmark/Danish culture/the Danish people were invented in the 1800’s by golden-age nationalists” like it’s some earth shattering discovery. It really isn’t and it isn’t bad, because without this invention we wouldn’t have a nationstate, we’d be a fiefdom or at most a city-state with some country attached to it. But they treat it, as if it invalidates any notion of culture or restrictions on immigration for example.

I think you wrote about years ago how all historians chose a narrative when writing their history books. If the dominant narrative is one of celebrating the nationstate, new historians will attack that narrative and we are seeing the results of that movement from the 1970s to today. I hope the fashion will shift again soon.

    1. This is absolutely true. It’s very, very hard to come up with ideas. But people need publications, promotions, etc. So they do this cheap contrarian schtick and call it “critical thinking”. And this is the result we see.

  2. Hmmm, well, it’s not forty years, it is closer to sixty, And, it is not Anti-American, it is Anti-Western Civilization. Futher, it is not “Both left and right” undermining the nations, it is communism, more specifically feminism that is “convinced that culture is terrible.”
