So. I need a new promotional photo. The old one is very nice but it’s from 2019, so it’s time to move one to avoid working under false rpetences of me being a spring chicken which I no longer am.
Here is the old one, in case people don’t know what I’m talking about:

I like the first one more because in it I look pinker and less self-righteous. I took more but they acquired a weird greenish tint for some reason.
What does everybody think? One or two? Or both are no good?

The problem is your facial expression isn’t symmetrical in either picture, and as they say the only sincere emotion you can express asymmetrically is contempt…. The top has a hint of playfulness but….
Maybe the same picture but with less facial expression?

That’s what I’ve been saying, and nobody believes me. I have an asymmetrical face. One eye is larger and one corner of the mouth moves more than the other. It’s always been like that and it’s why I come out terribly in pictures.

In that case, lean into it. Something like the first picture but with a bigger (smiling) smirk, like you know something the viewer doesn’t.

You look at least as old in the 2019 photo as in the two new ones.

Definitely the second, without specs (eyeglasses I think, they say in the US). Makes you look younger but not girlish, and carefree and non-judgemental.

That’s the only photo I wasn’t posing for and snapped in a second. So I guess it’s the most natural one and people are feeling it. Authenticity is key.

Post the greenish ones as well. Weird hues are easy to fix in postprocessing (would take me maybe 2 minutes), and if the facial expression looks good in one of the green ones, you can send me the full-resolution pic and I’ll fix the colors.
As for the facial asymmetry, try a 3/4 profile rather than facing the camera. Expressive corner of the mouth towards the camera.
Also, considering that you now have quite the career as a pundit, have you considered getting some professional photos taken?

Either one is good. I’d go with #2. The day you stop being (self) righteous or declarative is the day you die.
The glasses work with your face and in photographs. Your makeup is good.
I am weirdly focused on the brick wall behind you and the books with the combo of the Ukrainian flag (obvious). The wall is just a wall, not a statement. Or is it?
#1 is a dating site photo. The pink puffy coat one has you squinting and highlights your skin texture. And it’s a car photo.
Tl; dnr: Stuff you already know, obviously. Sorry, can’t figure out cuts/or spoiler tags.
[spoiler]<spoiler>If you wanted to look more youthful, I’d put in more product so your hair looks more moisturized or the curl pattern is more defined (ends look dry in photographs to me), not wear black, and not take a photo under what looks like indoor (florescent) light. Golden hour light works best.
The other photo has you in white or cream and looks like it was taken with some more diffuse warmer light, if not outdoor light streaming in? It’s also lower resolution. I wouldn’t discount the possibility that people will constantly zoom into the photo (I’ve seen people do this constantly). People will focus on the background too, so if you have books maybe stage them (your books, Ukrainian books you’re reading, won’t suggest facing the spines away or paper wrapping them, you’re an intellectual). </spoiler>[/spoiler]
