Euthanasia

Euthanasia is an inevitable result of socialized medicine in neoliberal times. It’s easier to get rid of the unproductive than treat them. And of course, it’s all coached on the vocabulary of choice, a word that has been wielded to unleash the most inhuman practices.

  1. As a retired physician, here’s my opinion of the current concept of medical euthanasia in America: It’s mainly a pernicious plan to get rid of no longer desirable (for whatever reason) relatives or nuisance patients by convincing them that they’d be better off dead and that you’ll be doing them a service by killing them.

There are VERY rare exceptions to the above statement — for example, when a patient is in constant untreatable severe pain from terminal bone cancer and is begging for an end to his/her torment. But such exceptions are rare, and should always be raised by the patient — never by the family or physician.

I will gladly engage with any commenters who wish to disagree with my professional opinion, but it is 3 a.m. local time here in Arizona and I am going to bed, so do not expect any replies from me until some time tomorrow morning.

    Thank you, and good night.
