Wow, Canclini is still alive, that’s good news. He’s far-far-left, though.
De Soto isn’t far left even though he doesn’t believe in cultural differences. But he’s a great suggestion. The other two I don’t know but I will research.

Plinio Apuleyo Mendoza is one of the co-authors of the book Manual del perfecto idiota latinoamericano and its sequel, El regreso del idiota. I have not read either of these books, but I used to see them on the stands in Border’s Books several, several years ago. Based on the books’ descriptions, they seem to align with your political interests, against left populism in Latin America.
