What can I say? It’s embarrassing. I’m deeply embarrassed on behalf of my country.
None of this humiliation was even necessary. The Europeans could have handled it and they were eager to handle it. Instead, Putin gets to mock Trump, and Witkoff has to offer bumbling excuses that betray impotence, befuddlement, and subservience.
But at least this administration is ready to go to war for Israel. Let’s take a W where we can.

I agree. Listening to anything anyone in this administration says about russia is just cringeworthy. It’s like watching a desperately unfunny comedian who doesn’t realize no one is laughing.
So far, Trump’s foreign policy is flop sweat on top of flop sweat. Deeply shameful.

Trump is quickly making Joe Biden seem like a genius by comparison. I can’t believe even sleepy ass Joe Biden had a better foreign and increasingly economic policies.
So far Trump has been good mostly on social issues that don’t matter they much in comparison. Trump just seems so disoriented and unfocused.

Why wouldn’t you make the simplest possible assumption: just like with everything else, Trump is doing what his base (of which intellectuals like yourself are just a tiny part) wants him to do?
The following is anecdotal, of course: This place is not the only place where I encounter MAGA people. Once upon a time I got myself into a debate about Ukraine in some other place. My opponent literally said “I hope losing 600000 men will teach them [Ukrainians] a lesson”. He was unable to explain what said lesson might be about. I suspect it is about resisting the larger neighbor. This is, in part, where my theories about MAGA literally identifying with the Russians come from.

I just wrote about the overheated bimbos in the most recent post. Unfortunately, both parties speak to the lowest common denominator. The most confused, angry, undisciplined, emotional members of society. We are all hostages of their incapacity to comprehend modern life.
