Urgent Measures

I’m so glad we’ve solved all the serious problems and can now pout about “unfair” ticket prices.

Probably, we’ll hear about “paying their fair share” next.

    1. She’s not a real politician but a project to make believe there is a political life in France. I’m not following whatever the most recent drama is.

      1. She’s been convicted of embezzlement and banned from running for office. Whatever I think about her as a politician, this smells like lawfare.

        1. Based on actions (which appear dubious to my view – but partially explain Brexit due to lax EU processes) that she stopped in 2016.

The French law criminalising these actions such that perpetrators are barred from public office was passed in 2016.

This seems like a retrospective change in the rules when banning Le Pen from Presidential candidacy and I’m fairly sure that it will fail the ECHR appeal – but probably not till after the next election.

  1. The Trump administration is all in on DEI, but for just one group of people.

    1. This is very upsetting to me. The last thing we need is to create our own group of preferred ethnic victims.

I don’t have an explanation for this. The base clearly doesn’t want it and is fed up with this stuff. What is it? Money?

      1. I guess. Remember we had a conversation about billionaire hedge funder Bill Ackman and how he switched to be “anti-woke” after October 7? But reallly, anti-woke was just cover for the main reason that dems weren’t doing enough for Israel (hilarious, but true).

Dems have this problem that their donor class has completely different priorities from their activist class regarding Israel, which led to a real split after Oct 7 (look how Michigan muslims voted en masse to punish Biden/Kamala).

Trump doesn’t have quite the same problem (yet) because his base is so in love with him that he can convince them that this insane support for Israel is a good thing (nobody on the dem side has this kind of personality). Though, if he doesn’t deliver mass deportations, it’ll become difficult even for him to retain his hold over the base.

  2. That’s always been my stereotype of society-in-general: misplaced priorities and byzantine rules and procedures—-the “Rube Goldberg” approach to everything: the social climate, the political climate, the legal climate, and various commercial and media duplicity.
