Do these people realize how incredibly organized and disciplined one has to be to live in this tiny house and not turn it into a garbage dump within days? Individuals with that degree of psychological health don’t end up homeless. They end up living in mansions.

I don’t think they’re well-meaning at all…. I think they’re clout chasing and realize at some level that their policies hurt rather than help the homeless and that’s why they do it. For one thing, the PMCs need a reservoir of hardcore addicts to ensure a cheap supply of their recreational drugs of choice.

Well, if you define homelessness as “sleeping outdoors”.
This illustrates the problem with calling it “homelessness” instead of vagrancy.

It’s true that anyone can unexpectedly encounter a series of catastrophic events that leaves them on the streets… but only a subset of those stay on the streets long term. The more psychologically healthy are more likely to be able to access help and improve their situation (and won’t need a portable coffin).
Living on the streets long term is almost always a secondary effect of addiction and/or mental illness and it’s all but impossible to get such off the street without coercive measures.

Most street people whom I have met as i did volunteer work for the homeless, they like and want to remain as they are. In California the street people get paid by the Government to never get a job and remain in their status quo.
