What’s Not a Marriage

This segment from the Matt Walsh Show features a clip from a podcast where Michelle Obama openly and simple-mindedly confesses that she was jealous of the attention her husband was receiving as president:

A marriage of this kind is not a marriage at all. The spouses have not melded into seeing themselves as an entity with joint interests and a shared emotional space. The best thing about a marriage, the togetherness, the wordless dialogue that never ceases isn’t here at all.

Of course, anybody can have mean, uncharitable feelings. You work on them, and that’s personal growth. But Michelle Obama clearly believes that envying her husband’s success is a normal thing. She’s not delivering the story as a narrative of a terrible personal flaw of hers that she battled and overcame. She is, instead, advertise this envious, begrudging attitude as a positive personal attribute.

I couldn’t care less about the success of the Obamas’ marriage. What bothers me is that both marriage and child-rearing have been emptied of all good content and turned into some sort of painful drudgery. And people don’t even realize what is wrong. They think marriage and children are causing unhappiness when what they see isn’t even a marriage on any meaningful sense. Relating to your husband like a sorority sister you are competing with is not a marriage.

  1. “spouses have not melded into seeing themselves as an entity with joint interests and a shared emotional space”

If the individual is supreme then any kind of relationship that’s greater than the sum of its parts is impossible. Every relationship is turned into a contest for clout the most intimate moments are grist for public commentary.

Not how I want to live but a lot of people seem to want it more than anything on earth. I’d like to think it’s because they don’t know any better but….

  2. Anyone who thought that the dems could just parachute this inarticulate buffoon post-biden debate and win the general election needs to publicly apologize.

There’s a certain mystique people cultivate about themselves and the media is only too happy to help them along, but it only works they don’t open their mouth too much. This is a woman worth hundreds of millions of dollars, adored by all, but still craves attention so she decided to start a podcast as if she were a character in Girls. And now we all get to see how fucking stupid she is.

        1. Well, as usual it is all rumours, but it is most certainly not “suddenly”.

No indications of previous girlfriends in either high school or college, nothing whatsoever before Michelle. But suspicions about college roomates and the reality of “Bathhouse Barry”s lifetime membership at Chicago gay bathhouse Man’s Country. His own words of deciding against the easy life for the hard work of having a fully heterosexual relationship. Followed by accusations of crack cocaine induced homosexual parties with and by Larry Sinclair, simply ignored because of his lengthy criminal record.

No indepth journalism to corroborate or demolish accusations by anybody, anywhere, any time, media caution, lest it harms the image of the Lightbringer ;-D
