Not Well

When these people start riling themselves up like this and feeling sorry for themselves, it does not bode well:

  1. It’s like they recycle the exact same rumors in every single administration. Heard the same things about the Clinton admin, back in the 90s.

          1. The idea that Democrats were creating death camps that was popular around 2012 was stupid. But it was not promoted by people with the prestige and intellectual cachet of Gary Kasparov. There’s a lot of nuttiness around the edges of both left and right, and that’s fine. It’s an American thing. It’s one of the side effects of the ingenuity and the greatness.

The problem is that starting around that same year of 2012 and intensifying in 2020, the entirety of the left became engulfed in the most extraordinary nuttiness. The right’s adrenochrome crowd is very stupid. And very marginal. It doesn’t run Harvard and NYTimes.

I have grown to love and appreciate American nuttiness. But it can’t be allowed to conquer the brightest minds of the generation. We need the left that is not barking mad.

            1. It’s one thing to believe in adrenochrome and a very different one to teach the adrenochrome conspiracy as truth in graduate school.

There was a global market crash in 2008 which became possible thanks to a series of beliefs at the level of adrenochrome nuttiness. The beliefs were exploited by dishonest rich people who are the main culprits. But those rich people wouldn’t have been able to come by as many subprime mortgages without the leftist version of adrenochrome.

The BLM is another adrenochrome. The trans thing which yesterday claimed 10 more lives in Canada is yet another.

  2. anyway, a longer and more detailed response.

the problem is with the government creating a “hunted / outlaw / etc” category that is much larger than generally acceptable category of “criminals”. In this case, if we are taking 11-15 million of illegal immigrants at face value, then it is 4-5% of the population.

the problem is also when the above is accompanied with the rhetoric where some yet undefined number of legal immigrants are also declared “undesirables” and the government is looking for ways to get rid of some of those too, if possible.

the problem is with the government encouraging sadistic impulses (that always exist in some fraction of the citizens) and legitimizing them. Such things tend to go out of control… and I do not count on Americans being better than others in this regard. And it is not just about openly/directly sadistic impulses – people are starting to snitch on people they do not like to ICE … my favorite is ex-soviet Jewish parents snitching on “their boy’s” Latina girlfriend…

the problem is with some fraction of sadists legitimized by the government being eager to expand their oppression to other categories they do no like – aka the leftists – and “teach them a lesson”.

the problem is with the government arming one political faction (but I am happy to see the Left getting out of the “end of history” mode and arming themselves).

the right likes to complain that the left wants to turn the US into Soviet Union… as far as I can see the right wants that too, they just like different aspects of the Soviet system.

    1. Yes! It’s completely wrong for the government to create a large illegal underclass that lives in the shadows for years. I agree. I’ve been talking about this for as long as I can remember. It was the concerted policy of the US government in both R and D administrations for decades to create and grow this illegal underclass. Because it’s good for business.

What is happening right now is that the voters who do understand that this is no way to live are trying to twist Trump’s arms, legs and other body parts to make him defy these business interests and stop growing the easily exploitable and convenient illegal underclass. In this endeavor, the voters are not extremely successful. Which is why we are all extremely annoyed with Trump.

In my view, the devastation unleashed on Central America and Mexico by decades of open border policies is sadistic. The destruction of small American towns where a town of 2,000 has a group of 1,000 Haitians dropped in their midst is what’s sadistic. People dying in the Mojave Desert is sadistic. The horror of the Darien Gap is sadistic.

How is it bad to want all this to end?

      1. I would not mind if all those ills you describe just magically ended. I am not in any way invested in the existence of the illegal underclass.

My main concern is with the psychological state of the society that normalizes certain methods of dealing with those problems. I am concerned with the state of mind of the citizens… Every society has some percentage of people who like to bully others. It is not a specifically American problem, so it is not an anti-American statement. But societies and governments have to avoid encouraging those people. You can observe right now what happens when governments encourage this kind of state of mind. Look at Russia… I know you are tired of me repeating it, but there are good psychological reasons for why MAGAs are so fond of Russia and these reasons go well beyond Russian propaganda convincing them that Russia is some sort of a conservative paradise.

Believe it or not, I wish the US well and exactly because of that I do not want it to become more like Russia, psychologically. One does not even have to support the Left to be worried about where the US is going.

        1. That’s exactly what I’m saying. People want a magic pill. But it doesn’t exist.

As for state of mind, I highly recommend following the footage from the inquiry into Palestinian rape gangs that has been going in in Great Britain. These are people who did exactly what you recommended. The results speak for themselves.

              1. Also, this whole idea that you need to be pure and uphold your principles while you are getting genocided is why Ukraine is losing the war. It’s the perfect symbolic expression of what’s happening in Europe. A morally and culturally superior nation is dying because it can’t find the moral justification to respond to the barbarian invaders with true force. It’s the same idea that the problem can somehow magically be solved without doing to the civilian population of Belgorod what Russians did to the civilian population of Mariupol. This is a nation that decided to die in order not to become “a bully” and preserve its moral high ground. Zelensky gives a speech at Munich complaining that “this is not a normal war.” No, it’s not. Because you people decided to not to do to the invader what the invader is doing to you.

“…generally acceptable category of “criminals”. In this case, if we are taking 11-15 million of illegal immigrants at face value…”

Lefty horseshit²! All illegal aliens are criminals, they broke immigration laws the second they illegally entered the country. Further, nobody buys into the 11-15 nonsense, try maybe 30 millions or more — every last one intent upon improving their own lives at the expense of the citizens that have actually paid for the social services. And even those that do seek employment are typically undermining the earnings of citizens. In short, there is nothing positive about their continued presence.

As for, “the government arming one political faction,” I have to presume that you are ridiculously somehow referring to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents or Border Patrol agents. They all carry out federal statutes combating the illegal movement of people and goods. Arming yourself to attack them would mean open insurrection.
