The Mother of Evil

Why would it be so much more unacceptable if they marched with swastikas? Especially since there would have been no swastikas if the red flags hadn’t come first. What is it with people that the mother of great evil is considered cute and quaint? How do people break it up in their minds? Hitler is bad but Stalin who brought him to power, trained his army, kissed his ass, and partitioned Europe with him is wonderful?

Where are the calls for Dem leaders to disavow the Commie attendees? We’ve had years of outrage over Charlottesville. Where’s the outrage about this?

    1. Trump seems to be in the “howling at the moon” camp I mentioned in the last comment.

I finally had a chance to watch a bit of Tucker’s long video on Iran several days ago and from the degree of his hysteria I realized that the war is going much better for us than I feared.

      1. Same. Simplicius (RUS propagandist on substack) keeps crowing about how the US has lost some crucial asset and the US is definitely losing this thing. The crucial asset today turns out to be… one, parked, airplane?

From this, I gather RUS is having a hard time coming up with sufficient spin material… so the US must be doing OK out there.

  1. Did the No Kings people go around to MAGA neighborhoods on Friday night to yell at people and try to start fist fights? Did a No Kings Protester run someone over with a car? Was there an incident where police at No Kings accidentally died in a crash while guarding it?

  2. I’ll start with the disclaimer that in my opinion Communist symbols should be treated the same way as Nazi symbols. It does not matter what anybody’s intentions might have been, the history has proven that both lead to mass casualties.

But I take issue with the statement that if there were no communists, there would be no nazis either. Nazism is one possible development of nationalism, with some socialist flavor, not the other way around. There are quite a lot of socialist overtones in Trumpism (e.g. the sentiments against corporate greed) but I doubt you would agree that this makes MAGA-style nationalism closer to Nazism…

    1. I’m talking very specifically about the efforts made by Stalin to guarantee Hitler his election win. The Weimar Republic was bound to give rise to all sorts of extremism. I can’t even blame Germans for it after fully realizing the horror that it unleashed on them. But an electoral win for the Nazi leader was only a distant possibility. Until Stalin purposefully made it a certainty.
