Zero Lessons

The president of the American Comparative Literature Association sent a letter today informing academics that their role is to “explain to students, parents, administrators, and the general public issues like the … weaponization of white, male, hetero privilege.”

Zero lessons learned.

    1. It’s like, why not just move on, you know? Literature departments are being phased out everywhere. We have serious problems in the discipline. And they think this is a helpful approach? It’s 2026. Let’s move on already.

      Stupid fucks.

      1. You are right. It is really bad. You already know how I feel about MLA and LASA, but ACLA is now in the same category.

I am going back to ACH this year. First time in more than a decade. Wish me good luck.

          1. My guess is that they wanted more participation from Europe? Or they thought that going to Salamanca would be more appealing than Saskatoon? It is better than ACLA that has the gall to organize their annual, expensive conference in Paris. Because yes, our colleagues from Latin America will travel to Paris in flocks.

I have not been to Salamanca since 2002.
