This is the kind of thing I’m talking about, and mind you, this is very recent, from yesterday :

People sincerely believe this, and that is a disaster, both for the education system and for society.
By the way, this was the foundational belief of Soviet pedagogy. My mother was told by the Soviet authorities that the only reason why her students, almost all of whom were children of convicts and multi-generational alcoholics, were not proficient in algebra is that she was a bad teacher. That this kind of errant lunacy is still so widely believed in America is simply sad.
The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren’t only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General.

This is very on point. The exact same people who preach endlessly about diversity are horrified by actual diversity. It would almost be funny if these people didn’t have so much power in society.

We do not yet have a solid understanding of IQ, most of it appears to be genetic, but with some environmental effect. Diversity is interesting, some believe that low IQ levels in some groups can be linked to consanguineous marriages, inbreeding. Some suggest that inbreeding in American blacks might be occurring because of uncertain fatherhood in succeeding marriages. Whatever, it is wise to be cautious, I remember an otherwise very intelligent woman getting herself into rather deep shit by suggesting that black levels were being negatively affected by mothers not talking to their babies ;-D

Me and biochemistry. Never gonna happen, no matter how interested I am, or how good the teacher is.

Me and statistics, unfortunately. Whenever my husband tries to explain something basic, I feel like my head is filled with cotton wool.

Right? And there are tons of things I really WANT to understand in biochem. I have tried and tried, and… nada. Does not compute. It’s a magic box.

LOL, okay, will you settle for Bio — my wife’s fragrant mock orange bushes are in full flower, and with them dozens of Tiger Swallowtail butterflies.

It’s terrible to think how widespread Lysenkoism still is in the human mind. It seems to be the default option for vast swathes of people, including the highly educated.
In particular, it seems to be the default option for those who work or have gone through departments of education, which is precisely where it should instead be eradicated. But then the vast majority of academics in Education departments have scant or no direct experience of teaching school children. Experience CANNOT teach them anything.
At this point, Lysenkoism is just a mental disease, with academics and intellectuals its main vector.
