Stupid Feminist Losers

Americans are like Molière’s Monsieur Jourdain who spoke in prose without realizing it. They all (with very few and very crazy exceptions) believe in the

political, economic, and social equality of the sexes

which is the dictionary definition of feminism. Yet in polls conducted by stupid losers among even stupider losers and published in a rag for the most stupid of losers, they claim they are not feminists. Even though they fit the dictionary definition of feminists.

And no, there are not many definitions of feminism. Use the dictionary already.

Are we so sure of that? (even though it changes nothing in the rest of your post)

  2. People think feminism is some kind of ideological focus on all things “womanly”. They’re afraid of using the term because they don’t want to give the impression they burn bras and own “all men are bastards” pins. It may not occur to them that this is a strawman.

      Shouldn’t you say strawwoman. 😉

  3. That’s a bit harsh, calling them “stupid losers”. As an avowed feminist, I can see why people don’t necessarily want to identify with the label. It conjures up images of angry women who don’t wear bras or shave (I don’t personally have a problem with that). I feel that the label is less important than the sentiment.

I also disagree that there are few definitions of feminism. The dictionary isn’t the be all and end all – what matters more is ordinary understanding. After all, that’s what the book is informed by! Feminism is about gender equality at its most basic level but I won’t necessarily band together someone else just because they call themselves a feminist. What do they want? Structural change? Working within the liberal capitalist system? (The one I was born into.) Acceptance of alleged biological differences? Recognition that the differences are negligible?

If you want something to get mad about, read the comments below the WT article.

      – Stick around the blog and you will see that for me this is almost an endearment. 🙂 When I’m really angry, I’m a lot scarier. 🙂 🙂

The western notion that women are irrational. They think, this can’t be rational, logical or based on empirical observation. It is written by a woman so there must be an alterior motive besides intellectual exploration. Just guessing why you are being second guessed.

When you us the term, “alterior” do you have a particular meaning for that term?
Also when you state, “They think, this can’t be rational…” what does that expression mean?
Could you try to translate your language into plain English?

  5. Oh, well, the Washington Times is owned by the Moonies, Clarissa. So, I would take everything they say with a “Grain of Salt”. It ain’t necessarily so, any more than Fox News or the Iranian “Press TV”. Propoganda.

  6. Maybe it’s because they want to avoid being judged how good they are. As feminists, of course. As long as you don’t join a movement they try to convince you… but once you are “one of them” they feel free to judge you.

    1. Afterthought: I hate how many people in feminist circles begin their texts with: “I am a cis white heteronormative blah blah blah…”

        – It’s also something that people in academia love to do. I find it absolutely idiotic.
