Spanish Gossip

Once you start, it’s hard to stop. I’m reading a Spanish gossip magazine I bought in Spain to use in my classes. On page two, I discover a convoluted evo psych discussion of how pregnant women and women known to have children don’t attract men sexually because having sex with such women is perceived as disgusting.

And then Spain wonders why it has been in the grip of a demographic crisis for God knows how long.

In contrast, the US gossip magazine we discussed yesterday has a feature on how sexy and attractive pregnancy and motherhood have made a bunch of celebrities.

And then everybody wonders why the US is pretty much the only developed country with booming birth rates (and not just among the immigrants).

    1. Women who have been seen in public with women. As opposed to those who manage to conceal the kids in a dungeon, I guess. 🙂

And wives, according to the article, should understand that they no longer attract their husbands and that’s natural. This is the point of view of a female sexologist presented by a female journalist, of course.

If somebody believes this, why desire to get married at all, except for money?

      2. Are you sure it’s articles in stupid magazines that make women decide not to have children and not socio-economic factors? Mere articles having such influence?

Previously, you talked how ads don’t influence people, unless they want to.

        1. Economic factors have been proven to have no influence whatsoever on reproductive choices.

Of course, I don’t think articles have an influence either. Article are a symptom of the disease which is that people see pregnancy and childbirth as disgusting, aging, and putting an end to everything fun. Let’s remember that until 1975 Spain was a fascist dictatorship which insisted that all women were good for was breed and shut up. There will now be a long process of reaction against that. In the meanwhile, the demographic situation in Spain is disastrous. I normally don’t care about demography but Spain matters to me for obvious reasons.

I.. what? If that were actually true, most people on the planet would be only children, throughout history.

Incidentally, when I was young Married With Children was popular. It was full of jokes about how a woman is like a wrecked car once she gives birth.

(I still can’t believe my mother thought it was ok for me to watch.) Hmm.

    1. Then men probably have temporary amnesia during which they mistakenly ejaculate inside these used up trainwrecks. And then it is too late. . .

      🙂 🙂
