“Mommy and Clarissa, let’s play Africa!” Klubnikis said. “We will be in Africa and we’ll see African animals.”
“Ok,” Mommy said. “Look! There’s a kangaroo! ”
” Yes, ” Clarissa joined in. “Big beautiful kangaroos! ”
The five-year – old Klubnikis looked at us with great compassion.
” There are no kangaroos in Africa,” she informed us in a kind voice.
Is there anything more humiliating than the compassionate condescension of a small child?

Yes, but there is something in South Africa that jumps around like a kangaroo, except it isn’t …

“The springhare jumps like a kangaroo on its hind legs, retreating to its burrow when frightened.”
