Ukrainians on US Politics

Witnessed a discussion about Scott Walker among Ukrainians on Twitter. The central message of the discussion was “WTF is such idiot doing in politics?” Now I’m feeling very embarrassed that Walker’s idiocy is so well-known so far away.

  1. Is Putin secretly backing Scott Walker?

“When Scott Walker was asked about the fighting in Ukraine, the Wisconsin Governor befuddled British reporters by evading the question.”

“Russian oligarchs have been purchasing European newspapers, including The Independent, The Evening Standard, and France-Soir. The French newspaper Libération recently highlighted the extent of pro-Putin connections in French academia, think tanks (on both the left and the right), media, and business networks….

Despite the ongoing tensions between Russia and the West – or perhaps because of them – Putin enjoys remarkable support among some European intellectuals and politicians. The Kremlin’s portrayals of the uprising in Ukraine as a fascist coup, and of Russia’s annexation of Crimea and support for Ukrainian separatists as defensive, have been reproduced through a dense network of Putin supporters.”

    1. Putin ‘ s views on the economy are identical to Walker’s. Both support the unbridled rule of oligarchy, both hate unions and state education. There is a huge affinity among the two.
