The Nucatola Animal

Shockingly, Planned Parenthood is still standing by the Nucatola animal. The same animal that said, while chewing noisily and drunkenly and slurping her own snot with delight:

“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not going to crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact” and “a lot of people want intact hearts these days.”

There is, obviously, no scenario under which it is necessary to utter these sentences. Moreover, there is zero sense in making them part of drunken meal talk with some uncredentialed passersby. If this were an actual professional conversation, as some strange folks keep insisting, there is no context that would make these disquisitions on what “a lot of people want these days” and how “I’m gonna see if I can” necessary. Especially when accompanied with noisy, slurpy chewing.

But hey, I understand why it’s hard to accept that the only champions of reproductive rights these days seem to be dumbasses who pick up this Nucatola trash by the sidewalk and then ply it with food and wine on the dime of the idiot benefactors like me. (And probably you.) We believed that these people were doing good, important work. We gave them money, we pinned our hopes of reproductive justice on them. And the suspicion that the Nucatola animal is not the only piece of roadside trash that enjoys bragging about “a lot of people” over drinks paid with by our money is quite intolerable.

P.S. Here some facile fool comparing the Nucatola animal to. . . Jesus. He hasn’t watched the video, of course, but he doesn’t need to because Nucatola is Jesus. I seriously thought there was nothing that could surprise me any longer.

P. P. S. And here is somebody from a local trailer park who praises the animal for her. . . good table manners.

  1. Let’s be fair, PP can’t just go ahead and fire her without any reason other than that she appeared in a video filmed without her knowledge and probably against her will. What reason could they give for firing her?

    1. Reason?? I thought we had at-will firing in this country. If everybody else can be fired without any “reason” whatsoever, why can’t this Nucatola piece of trash?

These are all excuses. If this were an accident and not a consistent hiring policy of Planned Parenthood, she’d already be fired. I have to conclude that there are many Nucatolas getting drunk and stupid on my dime in the organization.

  2. And…. it’s getting worse.

This looks like the anti-choice group has been working for a long time on this (and might well have more videos to come). Failure to disinvest quickly enough from one human body part merchant might be the least of PP’s coming problems.

    1. That’s exactly what I’m saying. I don’t believe in the single bad apple theory, especially since the organization is standing by her. I’m afraid this is a general policy and the ramifications of that are very, very bad.

People ask why I’m so angry about this. But I believed in this organization and now I feel like a total dupe.

      Planned Parenthood is dead.

  3. Did you and I even read the same link? John Kass is NOT defending Nucatola or the practice of using fetal organs for research.

For your own peace of mind, never ever hang out with surgeons discussing technique, peer into the contents of a biology teacher’s fridge, hang out with coroners or funeral home workers doing their work, any first year med students talking about their gross anatomy class or people who write code for blood donation organizations.

You will be absolutely disgusted and revolted at their talk of using body parts and their depersonalization of humans.

Why drug companies need human tissue, especially liver

    1. He does say she has good table manners. And if that is good table manners, I’m a ballerina.

These were not surgeons discussing technique. This was completely unnecessary bragging to a layperson.

Yes, it’s true that funeral workers do tend to suffer from burnout. However, when I shared stories here on the blog of funeral home workers behaving in insensitive and cruel ways, nobody has any problem with supporting me and denouncing them.

Working with people does lead to burnout. Doctors suffer from it and so do teachers. When burnout happens, though, and you can’t distinguish between people and earthenware pots, that’s time to leave the profession and go into therapy.

The issue of burnout is irrelevant here, however, because this freak of nature has nothing to burn out of.

I insist that there is no need for those phrases to have been uttered in that context. The freak was simply bragging, trying to impress.

As for what drug companies need, come on, on my blog, seriously? What is the likelihood that I will have much interest in the plight of drug companies?

Her table manners or lack thereof is completely irrelevant to what she’s saying and doing. I get that at least half of your revulsion is due to the fact she’s eating and drinking while talking, because several of your posts describe how she’s eating and drinking. Kass calls her “evil” and the very first word in the title to his column is “evil.” I don’t see how he could be any stronger in his condemnation.

These were not surgeons discussing technique. This was completely unnecessary bragging to a layperson.
This was a doctor talking to someone posing as a biologics company representative that sells human tissue to labs — not a layperson. These people talk about body parts all day long.

From the article I linked above (for others):
Fetal tissue is often used in research on diseases and disorders that affect babies. Scientists use it to better understand fetal anatomy and how it may react to certain treatments. Liver is particularly helpful when assessing whether a medicine may be toxic.

From the video, I wouldn’t be able to evaluate whether she’s a normal doctor or a sociopath who thinks she’s talking shop to someone pretending to be from Stem Express or a company like that. And, I do think the professions I mentioned are great places for sociopaths to hide. Regardless, she’s done and at some point she will tender her resignation.

        1. I agree that her table manners are irrelevant. Still, referring to them as “good” is quite shocking.

Doctors talking shop to sales people – come on. Doctors are besieged by sales reps all day long and usually know how to bounce them off painfully. Unless they have a reason to ingratiate themselves with them. No doctor sees a sales rep as a colleague. These are not the same status people.

Every second that goes by without Planned Parenthood dismissing her is yet another nail in the organization’s coffin. What are they waiting for?

    2. Just imagine you had to go in for a late – term abortion, which obviously not something anyone does out of joy of existence. Is this sloppy, bragging, chewing, bug-eyed thing what you want to perform the procedure on you? As for me, I wouldn’t let it give me a bottle of aspirin, let alone an invasive medical procedures that tomorrow she will narrate in great detail to any stranger she sees.

  4. The videos don’t show people involved in ‘shop talk’. I realize that healthcare people might say things about me when I’m out of earshot that would not delight me and that’s fine, I get it. I also remember who students talk about instructors (even ones they like) with each other and realize my students probably say similar things and that’s cool. Anyone with any life experience should understand the in-group / out-group dynamic.

But the videos are basically sales negotiations with the PP people talking up their ability to provide buyers with high quality human body parts which could easily traumatize anyone who bought the “donating fetal tissue helps others” line. It’s absolutely degrading to human dignity.

I’m very firmly pro-choice but I’m not going to support the insupportable for longer term political goals.

Nightmare thought – how long now before women getting abortions start asking for a cut of the profits?

Exactly! Doctors don’t tend to report on their medical process to sales reps. Doctors despise sales reps. There’s something going on in the video that we don’t know about for a doctor to be so bent on ingratiating herself to the sales rep. And my question is: what else is she willing to do to please this pharma company? How am I to know that she doesn’t talk patients into delaying abortions until the fetus is of a size she wants it to be to make a better sale? How am I to know that she doesn’t push people towards abortions? How am I to know that she doesn’t manufacture a need for abortions? In the video, I saw somebody very and very unusually motivated to please a sales rep. This doesn’t just happen, and until I know the whole story behind this very very strange interaction, I can’t rest easy. And the fact that the organization is not offering any explanation and is not rushing to get rid of this person makes me suspect the entire organization of doing this shit on a regular basis. This is a disappointment of epic proportions to me personally.

“I’m very firmly pro-choice but I’m not going to support the insupportable for longer term political goals.”

I feel the same. This whole fiasco is being sold to us as a cost of being able to perform abortions and conduct medical research but it isn’t. It’s not a cost anybody should accept.

These are excellent points that none of the defenders of these people are bringing up let alone dealing with. We’re just supposed to take it on faith that none of those things would happen. Well I don’t even have the capacity for religious faith in a diety, much less faith in the better natures of materialistic people.

        1. What is really tragic is the herd mentality where people subdivide the world into “us” and “them” and then blindly defend everything labeled as “us”. Any critical scrutiny dies as a result.

I, however, do not believe into making my mind once and then then spending the rest of my life contorting myself into weird shapes to defend that position. Every new incoming information should prompt us to reevaluate our position and come to a new conclusion. Yes, that is onerous. But the alternative is the death of the intellect.
