Sordid

What I don’t understand is why Hillary would want to have anything at all to do with somebody who has such a sordid history as this Huma. Doesn’t  she already have enough ridiculous sex scandals with Bill?

  1. This has been the salient feature of both Clintons. Some of the people they’ve associated with in the past have been pure scum. Dick Morris, David Brock, who destroyed Anita Hill’s reputation during the Clarence Thomas sexual assault hearings, but turned liberal and now running her campaign, Bill Clinton’s association with the billionaire pedophile felon Jeff Eppstein. The list goes on.

I don’t understand this either. I guess lust for power trumps everything else, but we have a clear example in Obama who’s achieved it all without having to align himself with wretched people.

  2. The problem isn’t Huma, it’s her extraordinarily stupid, man-child, sex-obsessed, freakish husband (really every picture I see of him is just ….. repulsive at a very basic level).

The question is why she reportedly introduced them and pushed them toward each other. Aside from her beautiful dream of massive Jewish and massive Gulf Arab donations coexisting in peace in her bank accounts, that is.

The best guess I’ve seen is that her years with Bill have dulled her senses and judgement when it comes to men. So men who set off everyone else’s “Sex freak!” alarms easily get past her defenses because…. compared with Bill….

    1. Wait…

Abedin is HRC’s mini-me, super competent with better fashion sense and a less competent less charming husband.

Perhaps HRC and Abedin thought Weiner could be Bill 2.0, and misjudged?

  3. I don’t know much about this latest dust up over the Clinton e-mails. (If I can never hear the words ‘Clinton’ and ‘e-mail’ again in the same sentence, I will be a happy happy woman.) But does Huma Abedin have a sordid history also? I know her husband does but was under the impression that Abedin herself was “clean.” No?

  4. “Abedin is HRC’s mini-me, super competent ..”

I don’t know you could make this determination. She’s a personal aide, arranges HRC’s travel schedules, fetches her coffee. Has she ever made a speech or written an article which would help us gauge her view of the world? About public policy? Anything?

Comparing her to HRC is ridiculous. We literally have no evidence that Abedin has an above-average intelligence.

    1. Exactly. She’s a secretary of sorts, and what I don’t get is why somebody not connected to a sleazeball like Weiner couldn’t be chosen for this role.

    2. She’s not a politician, that’s true. I’m guessing she’s not an at her current job because nobody puts up with this much ancillary drama from the merely competent or the incompetent if they don’t happen to be related. At least not if they have any sense. She’s the vice chair of HRC’s current campaign (whatever that means).

Her wiki, (edited by who knows) is this weird mash note:
According to a number of Clinton associates, Abedin is also a trusted advisor to Clinton, particularly on the Middle East, and has become known for that expertise.”She is a person of enormous intellect with in-depth knowledge on a number of issues—especially issues pertaining to the Middle East,” said Senator John McCain….Hillary Clinton has been described as a mentor, and a mother figure to Abedin. In 2010, at Abedin’s wedding to Weiner, Clinton said: “I have one daughter. But if I had a second daughter, it would (be) Huma.”

It’s entirely possible HRC has mini-me goggles on.

Who the hell writes this about a flunky? Even if they are politicians?

That evening, I received an E-mail from the senator herself. “Huma Abedin has the energy of a woman in her 20s, the confidence of a woman in her 30s, the experience of a woman in her 40s, and the grace of a woman in her 50s. She is timeless, her combination of poise, kindness, and intelligence are matchless, and I am lucky to have had her on my team for a decade now.

      ¯_(ツ)_/¯

      1. That all sounds like fluff to me.

In-depth knowledge of the middle east. Hmm, how did she acquire it? From the same wikipedia article.

“At age 18 Abedin entered George Washington University,[4][8] where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.[12] As a teenager, she aspired to be a journalist like her role model Christiane Amanpour, and wanted to work in the White House press office”

Education stopped at Bachelor of Arts. Doesn’t look like a person who’s eager to obtain more knowledge. And I’ll repeat, there’s no account of her knowledge or on display, anywhere, in any medium. No speech, no writing, no interviews. Nothing.

Look, being a girl Friday involves more than just getting coffee, yes, but it’s entirely possible that HRC took a liking to her, their personalities clicked, and HRC finally find someone she could trust. These things do happen.

So, yeah, she’s competent at managing HRC’s travel schedule and providing emotional support. Good for her. Let’s not go overboard now. When Weiner resigned democrats were pushing for her to run for election from his vacated seat. That was crazy.
