Ice Storm

We have another ice storm tomorrow, and it’s the best thing ever. N is staying home from work, the university is closed, we’ll make borscht and sit in front of the fireplace eating it. If things get really hairy, I even got an oseledets squirreled away for such time when I’ll have a good enough excuse to have some.

  1. Serves you right for living in an Artic wasteland like Illinois! I was stationed in North Chicago for my last assignment in the Air Force, and the winter weather there at the spear end of Lake Michigan was the worst in the the entire solar system, with the possible exception of Venus.

Tomorrow it’s goingto be 65 degrees here in Arizona — a bit chilly by our standards, but still sunny shorts and tee shirt weather. I’ll think of you poor souls back East while I’m barbequing supper outside by the pool. 🙂

    1. You obviously grew up elsewhere if 65 degrees is shorts weather. That’s when I put on pants.
I can always tell the people from the UK, for example, because they’ll run around on the beach and jump in the 50 degrees Fahrenheit water. My cousin sent me a picture of her six year old playing outside in the snow wearing shorts, a hat and mittens.

  2. Right now where I am it’s that weird temperature where the ground is a lot colder than the air. It makes everything so slippery, and the mud is awful. This weather needs to make up its mind and either snow or get warmer. I envy your blizzard in this respect.

    1. I’m from Ukraine, I’ve lived without electricity in the midst of winter and without running water in the heat of summer. I’m ready. And other people are rural Midwesterners, they are tough folks.

  3. View from outside our bedroom window in not-so-sunny southern california right now. Not an ice storm by any means, but I’ll take it!
