Everyone was sure that Clinton would win the general election. The only barrier was Bernie. So there was a big push from neo-nazis and other right wingers to defeat her in the primaries because then general election would be a cakewalk for the GOP (socialist jew from brooklyn would never stand a chance, blah blah).
