And the best part is that the darn narcissist seems actually to mean it. Must be one of those people who refer to themselves as “a survivor” after having a bad hair day.
It doesn’t matter how much information is available, how easy it is to travel and learn about the world, people will still believe whatever self-serving bunch of lies makes them feel more important.

The funny thing is that some of that article resembles things you’d say. 😛
The “safety net” is more pretty talk than anything else. The real safety net is drugs, tobacco, alcohol, cheap food, free porn and other ways to cheaply distract oneself from the pain of contemporary general population lockdown. There’s no safety in any of it, just something to get you through for a little while.
I know, I know. It’s hilarious when you’re glancingly familiar with places that don’t have safety nets.

The safety people seek through addiction is the one they didn’t have in early infancy (before 1.5 years of age). It’s oral stage traumas.
The money problems are anal stage traumas from 1.5 to 2.5 years of age. These traumas exist independently of each other. This is why money doesn’t cure addiction. Many very rich people- artists, actors, singers, for instance- are addicts.
