Joke or Not?

People, you’ve got to help me out because I’m utterly lost. Is the following written as a joke? It sounds like a parody but the header on the website makes me wonder.

You may think it is of no importance whether you gender your pets but why would you do such a thing to such an important member of your life? Pets cannot speak for themselves. They cannot tell you that they are being misgendered. It’s important not to make assumptions about what gender your animal is based off of its sex.

I’ll try to stop posting for today but I can’t promise anything because the world is full of wonders.

  1. I’m pretty sure that the person writing it is completely serious.

That doesn’t make it any less of a joke.

Spider David Gendron, Spider David Gendron
Does whatever a Spider wants to get done
Spins a web, any size, Catches thieves just like flies
Look Out! Here comes Spider David Gendron.

Is he strong? Listen bud, He’s got radioactive blood.
Can he swing from a thread Take a look overhead
Hey, there There goes Spider David Gendron.

In the chill of night At the scene of a crime
Like a streak of light He arrives just in time.

Spider David Gendron, Spider David Gendron
      Friendly neighborhood Spider David Gendron
      Wealth and fame, He’s ignored
      Action is his reward.

To him, life is a great big bang up

      You’ll find Spider David Gendron.

I stand in proud solidarith trans-speciest Spider David Gendron and promise to never deadname him by omitting his Spider honorific. And if the occassion presents itself, I’ll throw him some dead flies to munch on.

  2. Pets: for when you don’t have children to project all of your weird unresolved developmental stages upon!

Honestly, is this any weirder than neuticles?

  3. This is amazing. 😀

It’s a joke, though a very elaborate one, with great deadpan.

Here’s a quote from an article about how canker sores oppress women.

“I will admit I was not woke enough to know this was a problem until it was introduced to me by a friend of mine, Mager. He showed me an article saying that canker sores were more prevalent in females than males. While this itself does not seem to be a problem, upon further research, I realized that this is literally oppression. ”

Or a quote from an article about “fighting the patriarchy.”

“Your man won’t put the seat down? Time to fix that. Go to your local hardware store and pick up a big ol’ thing of superglue. Have some fun gluing the toilet seat down so that Mr. Jerkoff doesn’t have the opportunity to be inconsiderate. Check. Another one down.”

What clinches it most for me, though, is the… advertisements shown on their webpage. As image-conscious as the writers and hosts are portrayed to be, they would not let stuff like “The cameraman captured more than he expected” or “These pictures are just for the guys” fly.

Thanks for linking to this, really brightened my day.

      1. Most of the articles are just genuinely poorly constructed arguments, and the winks to the audience are very minimal. You really need the full experience of having been a sarcastic, passive aggressive child, teen, young adult and future octogenarian to cotton on as quickly as I did.

But you should really read through some of the articles armed with this new knowledge. 😀 It’s really quite brilliant!

“On the one hand, being a sex worker is an empowering and noble career but men enjoying porn is problematic.”

  4. “Don’t you know by now that feminists never do satire?”

This is another thing misogynists do. A decade ago this motherfucker would’ve been yukking it up with his equally disgusting friends about how women aren’t funny. He’s evolved to where he’s substituted the word ‘women’ with ‘feminists’ because thats apparently more acceptable.

The intention is the same, the target is the same, the jokes are the same. They think they’ve gotten slicker about it. And how wrong they are. Like anyone would have trouble identifying these jackasses.

Ah, String Boy, you’re such a ridiculous little child, so easy to provoke into impotent tantrums.

🙂 Go sit back in the corner now and take a “time out.”

      1. \ Oops sorry, I retract my statement because of this, which is not bad

        She is joking, isn’t she?

” The child can change their gender through out life if they need to, or maybe they will be gender fluid and change their gender through out the day.”
        AND
“We would be creating the most woke generation the world has ever seen.”
        AND
” If you already have children, it’s not too late. … If you’re like me and don’t want to have children, you can still help this world by … always asking a person their pronouns, and educating those you come in contact. ”

The entire article is pure comedy. 🙂 She is obviously joking, David. It has already been mentioned on this thread.

“The most woke generation” reminded me of the concept of religious awakening and of the satirical camp-meeting in Huckleberry Finn where people also wake up:

\ the preacher was lining out a hymn. … The people woke up more and more, and sung louder and louder; and towards the end some begun to groan, and some begun to shout. Then the preacher begun to preach … come, black with sin! (Amen!) … come with a contrite heart! come in your rags and sin and dirt! the waters that cleanse is free, the door of heaven stands open—oh, enter in and be at rest!” (A-A-Men! Glory, Glory Hallelujah!)

        1. It’s not so bad because she at least recognizes that gender is a social construct, so that her position on pets makes more sense.

But of course, there are some insane statements in her post like you said.

        2. But my main point is this: don’t gender anyone. Genderism is invalid from a feminist perspective, but the third-wavers are unable to understand this very basic thing.

          1. Although I identify myself as a spider, I would not try to enforce “sphe” instead of “he”. Simply use “David” as 3rd person singular pronoun, that’s it!
