The only upsetting thing about Juneteenth is that we won’t get an actual paid day off out of it until 2023. We should all come together as a nation to bemoan the unfairness of getting a new federal holiday but not a day off.

Really?? That’s so unfair! We got a stern warning yesterday that our public university is not getting a day off.

My employer is holding a presentation on the history of slavery instead. I don’t even know if they’ll make it a hospital holiday or not — no one’s said anything.

What is truly wrong is that one this day to remember the emancipation from slavery; no one seems to recognize how enslaved and controlled we are right now!
