One thing people need to remember that Russians who are trying to emigrate from Russia right now aren’t leaving because they have a problem with Putinism or the war. They are leaving because they miss Starbucks, Instagram, and their credit cards. Wherever they go, they’ll promote the same values that have caused the war.
Dissident Russians are a myth. The appeals to facilitate the immigration process for citizens of Russia are deeply misguided. We have enough America-haters right here. Honestly, who needs more?
Immigration isn’t an answer to everything. These people should go back home and make things right, not inflict their dysfunction on all of us.

На месте ездящих в лимузинах священников, живущих в неконфискованных российских дачах пропагандистов, допущенных к кормушке деятелей культуры и искусства, я бы беспокоился не о НАТО. От прогулки в Гаагу их защитит ядерный арсенал Родины.
Я бы беспокоился о тех солдатах, которые вернутся с войны. Которым пофиг “цветная революция”. И которые в один прекрасный момент могут не “призвать к ответу”, а просто ограбить и убить. Потому что у жирной крысы есть чем поживиться. И я бы еще более беспокоился о той молодежи, которая сейчас проявляет патриотический раж. Им тоже хочется теплых должностных местечек.
Если не случится чуда – будущее нынешних “опор режима” в России – это выживание между хунвейбинами нового порядка и бандитами. И похоже что умные крысы, вроде Чубайса, это хорошо понимают.

Vlad Vexler says Russians aren’t citizens… they’re just people living in a territory. To be a dissadent you have to be a citizen first.
I’ve watched a few videos of Russian youtubers leaving the country and they usually make a point about how little they’re interested in politicis… a position I detest more than the open pro-Putinites… It’s infantile retreat from adult responsibility and I blame the “I don’t care about poitics” trendy crowd as much as the vatniks and fascist babushkas.

I saw a video yesterday of Russian migrants throwing a tantrum in Georgia and screaming “Glory to Russia!” Apparently, they were upset that people in Georgia speak Georgian instead of Russian. In view of the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008, this is beyond clueless. People are being kind to them, accepting them in their country, and this is how they repay the kindness. It’s embarrassing to watch.

That said, I wouldn’t object to a litmus test that makes entry into the US and West for Russians contingent on them opposing the current Ukraine War. That seems fair and reasonable. Just like I wouldn’t want Muslims moving to the US and West who support murdering people for Muhammad cartoons.
