Ha! I KNEW you were too young to remember the ubiquitous Breck Shampoo advertisements that appeared in U.S. magazines for decades. The ads all showed a picture of an attractive young woman labeled the “Breck Girl” who had beautifully styled hair that, according to the ad, was the result of using Breck Shampoo.
Breck was bought out by Dial corporation in 1990 and is no longer advertised at the consumer level.
I’m sure Cliff remembers those old ads.

A flip! but… is it an ironic flip or an unironic flip?
I love the flip (it was fashionable around the time my aesthetic sense started to form….)

I remember trying to coax my hair into a flip back when flips were all the rage. But it doesn’t work when your hair is naturally curly and has a mind of its own.
