My two most favorite contemporary Spanish writers are now a gay Communist and a far-right ultra-Catholic.
Anybody has a chance to get on my favorite author list as long as that writer has talent.

Quite clear about the gay Communist – probably more of a Communist homosexual, if you will excuse my pedantry, Rafael Chirbes – for whose discovery I owe you many thanks, but who is the far-right ultra-Catholic?
I am salivating as I am sure that there are great literary riches in store!

I’ve been away for a short holiday in the mountains, out of reach of the Internet thank God. As I read your posts from the latest backwards, I now realise it must be Juan Manuel de Prada. Please let me know of that’s correct.

Yes, it’s him. I just finished his novel Mirlo blanco, cisne negro, and wow.
