Benefitting from Not Noticing

By declaring that everyone could Be Like Me (if only they were properly socialized), the clever can, with clear conscience, continue to surreptitiously wage class war against the clueless.

Steve Sailer, Noticing

The idea that all brains are equally capable of performing all operations is the great scam of our times. “You aren’t trying hard enough!” “You will achieve mastery if you invest 10,000 hours.” “Everybody can succeed in college.” These are egregious lies that hurt people, saddle them with debt, and undermine their lives. But we aren’t noticing because those who have the capacity to do so benefit from not noticing.

  1. At the risk of sounding like a snob or being politically incorrect, I agree not everyone is capable of everything and that many people aren’t capable of very much. As a substitute teacher in all sorts of districts, I’ve encountered high school students who can’t read, can’t do simple math or even know who the president. The cynical part of me thinks the only reason these kids are in school is so their parents can work, back in the day these kids would’ve just gone to work in a factory

    1. Anybody who’s in education and not completely brainwashed knows that this is true. Everybody has an intellectual ceiling. Some ceilings are much lower than others. It’s a biological fact, exactly like we all have a ceiling in how high we can jump.

  2. “if only they were properly socialized”

That’s a line also used by those trying to justify the presence of males in female sports… (women aren’t socialized to be strong enough or some such nonsense).

    1. Speaking of Noticing, did you see that Lomez was doxxed and it turns out he’s the founder of the publishing house that released Sailer’s book, which now is making a large profit? The doxxing story is fascinating, with the doxxer going to incredible extremes to harass Lomez but it all backfired because nobody cares.

  3. Go ahead Kurt Wallenda, lean into the wind, that dodgy wire restraint is nothing to fear!

“The idea that all brains are equally capable of performing all operations is the great scam of our times.”

    Try this instead:

“The idea that all people are equally capable of being motivated is the great scam of our times.”

Know who’s easiest to get motivated?

People with maladjusted personalities that crave addictions.

    And narcissists, never forget narcissists.

That certainly doesn’t stop manipulative narcissists from creating enticing models that seduce people into licking the sweet cream from the knife’s edge until they discover how deep the new cuts go.

So it’s even more fun when the Be (More) Like Me types promote mental damage.

“Don’t crack up, bend your brain, see both sides, throw off your mental chains!”

(… especially if your cast-offs benefit me, hee hee hee …)
