The Horseshoe Theory

  1. It’s a disgrace but understandable in a sick sort of way. A lot of MAGA types are under the delusion that Putin shares their views and that Russia is a conservative, religious country so they love it when Putin says that the West is evil. And many woke types are so obsessed with Palestine that they’ve forgotten about Ukraine and even believe that Ukrainians being killed is no big deal, since most Ukrainians are white people and tend to be blond. Hell, they probably think it’s great white people with blond hair are killed since they supposedly are the acme of whiteness, they hate white people more than anything

  2. Yeah, that’s why they have such a blind spot about poor white people since they think all whites are privileged. They don’t realize normal people tend to empathize with people similar to themselves, which is why many people empathized with Ukrainians when the invasion happened. Normal white Americans see something like the mess in Gaza or anything bad in Africa as something endemic to these regions, since these cultures look alien to most Americans. This isn’t racism but empathy, since the victims don’t seem very different than regular working class Americans

On a lighter note, one of my favorite musical artists Josh Klinghoffer, is a proud supporter of Ukraine. His father is of Ukrainian Jewish descent from Galicia and he has a Tryzub on his guitar and regularly wears a Tryzub shirt:

    1. I’m confused about this part:

“Normal white Americans see something like the mess in Gaza or anything bad in Africa as something endemic to these regions, since these cultures look alien to most Americans. This isn’t racism but empathy, since the victims don’t seem very different than regular working class Americans”

The first sentence contradicts the second. Are the victims from an alien culture and simultaneously not very different from regular working class Americans?

      1. I meant to say that Ukrainians do appear to look and act similar to many white Americans, which is why people can empathize. However, whenever there’s problems in Africa or the Middle East, many Americans either don’t understand or don’t care since there isn’t that sort of empathy. Plus there’s the idea that African and Middle Eastern people are naturally violent, so people think that when there’s a war or issues in that region, that’s just how “those people are” and “no big deal”
