This is actually an excellent plan. Democrats are such a mess that a moderate Republican would be much better than anybody the Dems can nominate from among their own. Romney is not ancient, he doesn’t screech and bug out his eyes, he speaks in complete, grammatically correct sentences, he’s not a DEI pick, he’s polite, he has a normal family life. He also tugs on the heartstrings of people who realize that going with him in 2012 instead of Obama would have been the right thing to do.

Some people on Internet offer to create a law making the maximum age of a presidential candidate 65. There is something in that.

The problem is that deranged idiots on drugs try this fairly often, with sitting presidents as well as presidential candidates, and to a lesser extent, congressmen, supreme court justices, prominent activists, and celebrities. Most of them don’t make the news, because they couldn’t get into the event venue, or security nabbed them before anything happened.
So if you really want to get someone under secret service protection assassinated, all you have to do is promote idiots to his security detail, make sure they’re always short-staffed, and sit back and wait. Eventually some determined wingnut will get through the perimeter.

How’s he not a DEI pick though? He’s literally being suggested for “diversity” and/or inclusion. He’s not a party member.

Your university must have updated the DIE standards.
My struggle sessions through 2022 all assured me that diversity can include white people if the white people have interesting (and preferably female) sexualities.
It’s how publishing went hard on No More White Men, and dropped the publishing of black-identified publishers to record lows, while nearly doubling the number of white lesbians. Walter Dean Myers was understandably salty about it. IIRC, Mayor Pete was elected for Diversity and went hard on DIE policy. His city went from about 11% black representation in the police force, to firing its black police chief, and to reducing the cadre to 5%. Seattle did the same, firing its first black police chief during the CHAZ.

The point of inclusion in DEI is that the selection is made to “INCLUDE” what is otherwise not there. A white pick in a majority black space is DEI. A republican in a democratic space is DEI. That’s the whole point: creating more equity and diversity, supposedly when quality/competence has already been taken care of.

You know I like this idea. Mittons is spineless and will wilt on the smallest amount of scrutiny, and Kamula is ridiculously abrasive and doesn’t understand when to back down. They would complement each other well. I would love to see this combination if only to see just how few people would be willing to stomach voting for the two of them together.
