I think Trump is actually telling the truth here in that he has no idea what this Project 2025 is and doesn’t want to be saddled with it. In fact, nobody knows what it is beyond a rhetorical device used to demonstrate that “Trump is a fascist.”
People are so primitive that you tell them there’s a text called The Protocols of the Elders of Zion Project 2025 that outlines an evil conspiracy to hurt them, and they will not even try to read it or establish its provenance. The first query that appears in Google when you start typing “Project 2025” is “Project 2025 summary.” That the summary in question will be written tendentiously and that Google algorithms will push down any alternative reading doesn’t even begin to occur.
I haven’t read it either but since it was created by the Heritage Foundation, I’m quite certain that the proposal to stop processing immigration applications of people who are in the country illegally is not in there. And that means the rest is not honest, either.

Sure, but it is easy to find the actual 900-page program… I’ve read most of it.
The “summary” is of course exaggerated.
And Trump honestly not knowing about it actually means that he is planning on improvising again, if getting elected. Which is my polite rephrasing of one of Dreher’s options.
