The Face of Hunger

In the numerous news items about people lacking food in America, I notice a strange trend:

I’m certain that Felicia’s suffering is sincere but posting a video of her as opposed to pretty much anybody else is quite counterproductive.

The post ends up being comical instead of serious.

  1. It has to be deliberate.

Affirming the obviously untrue thing as a religious sacrament, secret handshake, ingroup signalling.

Might also serve the useful purpose of baiting the opposition for database-compiling purposes.

Somehow that’s easier to believe than…

They’re all functionally retarded, but somehow still serving as congressional reps, and they are batting zero when it comes to finding a credible public face for any of the injustices they rail against.

Because if that’s the case, then you have to really, really hope that there is actually a Deep State that does all the actual governance.

    1. It might be deliberate, I agree. Also, maybe they are so engrossed (pardon the pun) in their narrative that they sincerely don’t understand how this looks to normal people.

Or maybe it’s an expression of dominance. “We’ll show you a ludicrous picture, and you won’t notice because we dominate you completely.”

      1. If deliberate, that last one is the answer.

If not deliberate, it’s demonic obsession. They literally cannot bear to look at anything true, good, and honest, because they’ve given over their hearts to evil things. Which would mean that if there *are* innocents who’d be good posterchildren for their causes… those people are literally invisible to them, because of the depravity of their hearts. Father of Lies and all.

  2. I agree it is ironic but I think there are physiological reasons people can be obese and food insecure at the same time

    1. Stress increases Cortisol which increases fat storage
    2. the crappy food people buy is high in calories but low in nutrients, leaving them hungry as the body searches for the nutrients it expected and doesn’t find them
    3. Relatedly, the same food is typically high in carbs which spikes blood sugar and insulin levels – elevated insulin levels prevent fat mobilization and promote fat storage

Tl/dr stress and bad food can make you fat while leaving you hungry
