How to Lose Ohio

Congratulations, GOP. You really picked a winner on this one. Great move.

It’s actually worse when read silently than aloud because native is in scare quotes and that makes the whole thing sound even more clueless.

      1. Perhaps he would be less clueless if he went to a prom and chill out a little. I’m sorry his parents didn’t just let him play outside more when he was a kid. It is a mystery though that despite their “superior” culture of overachievement, India and China are not a destination for all these amazing educated immigrants. Puzzling, very puzzling…

  1. Vivek is Vivek. I would never expect anything better from him. But it’s galling that the GOP rallied behind him and squeezed out all viable primary competitors. I would’ve happily voted for Dave Yost but he saw no path for himself after the state GOP made a primary endorsement. Mind you, this happened months *after* this horrible tweet. I have no idea what they were thinking.

I’ve criticized DeWine plenty in the past, but I do appreciate his obvious hatred of Vivek.

    1. The GOP can’t stop chasing the dream of showing that they, too, have diversity. They’ll sacrifice everything on the altar of proving that they are not racist. Which never works because they’ll still be called racist.

      1. I actually think it had more to do with a misguided idea that a competitive primary would hurt the party in the general. People felt that affected Vance’s performance in 2022 (it really had more to do with him lacking incumbency+Dems having a really good candidate.) That certainly can be an issue in a vicious primary, but primaries like that also tend to weed out weak candidates like Vivek. I hope Alex Triantafilou gets forced out of his job after this election.

      2. It doesn’t help that Vivek briefly had a following among the “based” crowd, though they’d all like to pretend that never happened now. By the time of the party endorsement that was long gone, but out of touch party bureaucrats don’t seem to have noticed.

      1. Remember, this guy got trump’s endorsement to run for governor after last year’s christmas fiasco when he laid out precisely the exact vision for the country he’s been repeating ever since. So it’s not even like GOP can say they were blindsided. The truth is that GOP and his views about white americans are exactly the same. It’s just sounds jarring coming from a brown anchor baby. But the core message to the base is the same as it has been for the past 40 years.

        1. I hope and pray that GOP lose big in the midterms, Trump gets impeached by the incoming congress, and finally gets thrown in jail. Let politics be handled by real professionals and not circus performers. GOP is an entertainment organization, like the WWE, and that’s all they’ll ever be.

“The left can’t meme” yeah you’re right. You can meme, congratulations on the achievement. Take a look at all that’s gotten you, while they eat your lunch even out of power.

        2. We thought they learned something, though. We thought that we sent the message loud and clear that “free markets” and infinity migration were not what we wanted. That they are not conservative. We thought it was clear.

But three minutes later, they are back with the same old bag of tricks. Free markets, Reagan quotes, everybody is an American if they claim to believe some arbitrary shit that changes every other month. America is a place where everybody comes to grift. Let’s smile and say thank you.

We really thought they learned something but it was an illusion.
