Leave Them Alone

It is very very important for the US not to get involved in any way, shape, or form. Iranians should be completely in control of their fate and decide what regime they need. Any involvement from outside forces will severely undermine the next regime because it will forever be seen as an imposition from colonizers. The US already interfered to remove an evil dictator from a country in the region and created a mess of incalculable proportions. We clearly don’t understand these people and shouldn’t be messing with them.

If we haven’t learned even this, we have learned nothing.

I love your babe in the woods routine when discussing any matters relating to the middle east and israel. US and israel have been involved there for a very long time, and are an integral part of any protests we see there. But I’m sure they’ll heed your advice going forward.

Who is this “we”? It’s infinitely easier to understand them than these disgusting parasites.

A people who deploy drones that play recordings of crying babies and women screaming in distress in order to lure people out into the open, and then shoot them. A people who poison wells with typhoid and call that operation “Cast they bread.”

These people you fully understand and relate to! lol

    1. The idea that any uprising against a regime anywhere in the world is paid for by the US is of no interest to me. I’ve seen it deployed regarding Ukraine’s 2014 revolution, and it was the most bizarre lie. People are still bleating about “Nuland’s cookies’ even today. This is a narrative that is not interesting to me.

      1. Once again, a strawman argument. Nobody said that “any uprising against a regime anywhere in the world is paid for by the US.” Let’s stick to the topic. This is a simple yes or no question:

Are the US and Israel involved in the current protests in Iran?

        Yes or no?

            1. In the presence of imperfect information, all we can do is assign probabilities to events. I lean more “yes” than “no” on the question that the protests have had US/Israel involvement. They’re not even fucking denying it, jesus!

              Any sane person would, too.

          1. If you have no idea why are you even talking about it? Why are you presenting a news report of one million civilians killed by the regime as if it’s the truth, then opining on it? Clearly you lean more “yes” than “no” on the question that the regime killed these many people.

            1. I thought the claim was 16,000. My point is that whether it’s 16,000 or 16,000,000 the US shouldn’t get involved.

How many were killed by the regime neither you nor I can possibly know. But to form an opinion whether our country should get involved is something we can do.

              1. Yes, and my point is that our country is already involved. But yeah, I agree with the sentiment that it shouldn’t be.

Probably…. so? Being around on the edges trying to influence things is perfectly normal in such situations.

Are the US and Israel the cause of or directing current protests in Iran?

Of course not, it’s a retarded idea. Anyone following Iran even superficially (like me) knows there is deep and abiding hatred among the population for the government. I’ve seen research that suggests that a majority of the population no longer even identifies as muslim in any serious way. A few months ago, an Iranian I’ve known for years who’d always presented themselves as a believer said the religion now seems ‘stupid’ to them…..

In a way Political Islam is like communism, taken up enthusiastically only to lose support over time and turn former supporters into enemies.
