Anti-choosy

Thank you, everybody, for the birthday wishes!

In good news, in class we are reading a play where the male character tells the woman he likes that he can’t offer lifelong love but promises to”try to choose her every day”. All of the (mostly female) students were repulsed by this and said that the female character should not agree to this choosy arrangement.

Choosy is no longer chic.

Well this is a reversal of the traditional western paradigm (men court, women choose). No wonder they were repulsed. How would they react if he said he promised to do everything so that she would choose him everyday…. Probably a lot differently. Him “trying” to choose her everyday is at best a warning (he won’t always succeed) or a threat at worst (she better watch her step to keep him choosing her).

I suppose he isn’t planning to marry and have kids with her.

After several kids ‘trying to choose’ sounds especially ‘loving.’
