A Weird Car Sticker

Does anybody know why people would create such a sticker? Isn’t Sea World an amusement park?

  1. Yeah. I think the sticker is protesting the fact that whales and dolphins aren’t meant to live in tiny pools and it’s cruel to keep them there. I am sypmathetic to the argument but I don’t much like PETA as an orginzation. (The ineffective bumper sticker alone attests to PETA’s failures.)

  2. This seems oddly appropriate (nb it only really kicks in at the 2.00 mark)

One of the ten greatest music videos ever (I’m prepared to seriously defend it, but given my low stock here I probably shoudln’t…)

  3. Yes, people have said it already – it is a PETA sticker, and while I dislike PETA immensely, I happen to dislike $eaWorld significantly more. The main crux of the argument I have against them is that they are a massive entertainment facility that exploits marine mammals, especially whales and dolphins, keeping them in cruel conditions that lead to shorter lifespans and depression/misery in the animals (This has been proven in multiple studies). Now I don’t have a problem with the principle of keeping whales/dolphins in captivity if they are unable to survive in the wild, and if they are in large, deep environmental enclosures, as opposed to shallow concrete tanks. Concrete is dangerous for dolphins that echolocate, because the sound bounces off the walls and returns painfully – the animals sometimes even stop trying to echolocate and simply give up. Sea World doesn’t really care about the animal’s well-being, but just uses them as an entertainment prop, trying to get the most profit out of them as possible – “entertainment” if it is used for educational purposes doesn’t bug me as much, because then at least the people watching can learn about the majestic animals, but Sea World doesn’t. Also, Sea World supports the dolphin slaughters in Japan (look it up), because they are a cheap source of dolphins.

So anyway, from a girl who is *obsessed* with dolphins – I really dislike $ea World and all that they do. They’re in it for the money and only for the money. Maybe I’m anthropomorphizing the dolphins, giving them the ability to “think” and be “unhappy” in the conditions that sea world does, but it’s so frustrating that they have this great platform for doing something wonderful, but instead, they’re using it to simply get a lot of money…

    1. I dislike PETA, too, but it’s kind of nice to see a car whose owners are not ultra -conservative and have all those anti -choice / religious / Libertarian stickers.

It’s all a case of perspective, I guess. Even PEtA begins to look warm and fuzzy after living in this sort of place.

      1. There’s a term, “ecoterrorism” or “ecoterrorist” – it describes “environmentalist” groups like Sea Shepard (my god they’re a terrifying group – they’re the ones who go out on a boat and attack Japanese whaling ships). PETA isn’t quite as bad, but they’re really only a step or so down from there..

      1. You do have to wonder what precisely they thought they would accomplish (besides making everyone with any intelligence or ethics hate them).

If I didn’t know better, I’d assume that PETA had long ago been taken over by enemy agents wanting to discredit the animal rights movement.
