Such a great country governed by a bunch of inept idiots. What a shame.
If this gets to the point of an actual default, we will go down in history like the generation of the greatest losers imaginable.
Why are people just sitting there like broken down robots while this is happening?
This is not the first shutdown in the America’s history, though.

The default will be the first and there is a big likelihood it will happen

I asked someone IRL about this reaction, to a similar event here. He said, because he was “burned out.” I sympathize but am not sure it is the real answer.

But aren’t you sitting too?

I’m not even a citizen let alone one of the 800,000 federal employees who were sent home on an unpaid leave today. Of course, if somebody tried to mess with my paycheck, I would be organizing a protest this very moment.

I’m not crazy about this healthcare bill either, but the economy in this country only just started to improve visibly in the past three or four months. And now all that progress has been sent to hell. And the default on the US external debt is looming ahead. Given how easily it was for the politicians to accept the shutdown, it will not be very hard for them to let the default happen. And then we will be back in the 2008 crisis but even worse.
