There Is No Santa

My blogroll is populated by long, passionate and painfully earnest posts on whether Santa is white or Greek. Which, apparently, is not white.

Maybe it’s time to inform people that Santa is not real.

    1. A very easy mistake to make, I’ve seen Santa’s church in Turkey. I’ve also received a letter from Santa sent from Greenland (I couldn’t help myself from writing to him when I was little, I had to now whether he would show up on Christmas Eve, imagine how sad I was when I got the letter detailing how Santa had delivered gifts to all the good kids (with the help of a few penguins no less) and the only presents I got where from my family, I never wrote a letter to him again…) I’ve heard the Finnish have him living in Northern Finland. This guy gets around a lot! Wonder where the Australians place him.

  1. No, no, no! Santa is *real*, he’s just not *human*. Haven’t these people read the authoritative source-text for Santa’s modern incarnation? “The Night Before Christmas” states quite plainly that he’s a “jolly old elf”–which explains how he fits down the chimneys. So there.
