Trounced

So it seems like the Dems have been trounced in today’s election, eh?

Of course, the majority of voters didn’t even vote, which is just sad.

  1. I tried to coax every American citizen I know into voting (mostly because I don’t want a Tea Party-controlled congress to destroy the world’s economy) but most of them can’t seem to be bothered to care when there’s not the celebrity power and spectacle of a Presidential Election to drive them.

      1. LOL, what the hell do you imagine Americans are going to think about a collapsing Southern boundary when there is heavy unemployment? Only a complete goddamned idiot would fail to grasp that. Now wake up and engage both hemispheres.

  2. Trounced? I suppose. Now to see how the neo cons. apply their extreme right wing agenda. What will they do to reward their knee JERK voting base? They have applied it on a state level for the last four years — but not really in the best interests of the main body to the state’s citizenry. I don’t think they will matter on the federal level. Obama has a veto that can’t be overturned — neo cons. don’t control 2/3 of the senate. I suspect another two years of vicious “bickering”. And likely no appointments confirmed. In 2016? Another Dem. president. Neo cons. can not find a candidate who can say things to satisfy their voting base and then turn around and say things to woo independents. Independents are no where as stupid as neo cons. voters.

      1. This was a rather thorough spanking by the general voting population…calling people childish names is not going to alter that reality. Engage both hemispheres ;-D

      2. Hmmm, I consider those not bothering to vote are also sending a strong message..and it is not that they trust the current administration ;-D

The reference to both hemispheres was me trying to gently say please use a little more logic and a little less emotion. Calling those that disagree with your politics childish names reflects poorly on you.

          – At my advanced age, it would be really bizarre for me to care about the impression I make, you know? 🙂 I haven’t done that since I was 18.

“Hmmm, I consider those not bothering to vote are also sending a strong message..and it is not that they trust the current administration”

          – The problem is that they don’t show up for any elections, irrespective of administration.

          – I work for a public university. Rauner promised to cut our funding. What kind of “logic” would lead me to celebrate something that will impact my personal finances in a negative way?

      3. Okay, go ahead, call opponents idiots, neocons, whatever. But, that is not a particularly persuasive argument ;-D

The needed logic is the understanding that your state’s(and many others’) current economy requires a reduction in spending to balance public costs and possible taxation powers…or facing bankruptcy, followed by a lay off public servants. Politicians like Scott Walker recognize that there is a pending tax revolt underway in much of the country. If it spreads far enough, you could very well end up with him as the next president.

          – Who said I was trying to persuade??

          – No, it doesn’t. The very last thing we need is a destructive reduction in public spending. Do you follow American politics at all? Have you heard about the recent experiment in Kansas? Its conservative governor put in place an aggressive program of lowering taxes and reducing public spending. The economy is shattered as a result. This method hasn’t worked anywhere in the world.

          – Taxes in the US are very low.

“Okay, go ahead, call opponents idiots, neocons, whatever.”

          – So for you idiots and neocons mean the same thing? Interesting. Please note that you are the one to say that.

      4. LOL, let us not jump into wild and hairy reducing taxes ;-D

Instead let us consider whether likely future draws on existing agreements with public servants are currently completely funded. If they are underfunded, do we have the possibility of taxation to secure the difference? If not…

          – Actually, Governor Pat Quinn of Illinois did raise the state tax. It was a really great thing to do, it worked beautifully, and we were hoping the tax raise would be extended for at least few more years. But this freak Rauner promised to rescind the tax raise. 😦 Obviously, that will fill his pockets while pauperizing the state. The citizens of Illinois have handed him an opportunity to enrich himself even further at their expense. And what am I supposed to call them after this decision? No other word but idiots comes to mind.

      5. Was Quinn’s plan not only workable but acceptable to Joe and Joan Sixpack? Was the tax increase providing benefits that the public servant received but they did not? If so, ….

        1. Yes, the economy of the state was slowly but steadily improving. Just like it has done country – wide and does every time when the Democrats come to power. The Republicans are really bad on economy. Just remember Bush.
