I do not understand this at all. The Charlie Hebdo terrorists were indeed Muslims. The Duggars and the KKK are indeed Christians. There is only one way to determine a person’s religion. That is by what one declares oneself to be. This post is the semantic equivalent of someone saying that someone who does not attend church regularly is not a Christian, or employing any other definition one might attempt to impose.

There is no religion without practice. Every religion has a doctrine and you’ve got to have an active relationship with that doctrine. Declarations have nothing to do with it.
And yes, I am aware that Protestantism has evolved (especially in the US) in the direction of “religion is about yelling ‘I’m a Christian” on every corner and absolutely nothing else whatsoever. But this is not my tradition, I’m not convinced by it. Protestantism did a lot of good in its time but today many strands of it are intellectually and morally bankrupt.

NOBODY EXPECTS THE ACCIDENTAL DISCIPLINE
[you can have more fun with your “discipline”, BTW, if you take the saffron-coloured robe-wearing monks out for a round of crazy golf, especially if it’s “pirate adventure” crazy golf …] 🙂

Could you explain this more? I consider myself a Christian even though I haven’t been to church, except for weddings and funerals, in more than a decade.

I don’t think it my place to tell people whether they belong to a religion I do not practice. At the same time I also recognize that there are wide variances among people who claim a particular religion and practice it.

If we don’t tell them, how will they found out? 🙂
I am a Christian, though, and I feel very justified to figure out whether the Duggars are or not. Something tells me that Jesus would not be very much into molesting little girls.
