The Same

Woman-haters are all the same. Here is a quote from a Catholic Archbishop:

In Philadelphia I’m struck by how many women I now see on the street wearing the hijab or even the burqa.  Some of my friends are annoyed by that kind of “in your face” Islam.  But I understand it.  The hijab and the burqa say two important things in a morally confused culture:  “I’m not sexually available;” and “I belong to a community different and separate from you and your obsessions.” I have a long list of concerns with the content of Islam.  But I admire the integrity of those Muslim women.

All he cares about is having a chance to treat women like stupid cattle. That’s the extent of his religion. He will gladly switch to Satanism tomorrow if Satanists promise him an opportunity publicly to shit on women’s faces.

You don’t expect much (or shouldn’t) from a catholic archbishop, what’s especially disgraceful is the way that feminists who supposedly reject patriarchal values rush and embrace them if they’re just not western.

Feminists would rightly despise women who wore something like hijab in the name of conservative christianity but can’t say enough nice things about it if it’s from Islam.

    Purely disgusting….

    1. It’s not even a hijab. He’s praising burqas, for Pete’s sake.

And by the way, there are many Muslim feminists who fight against the burqa and the hijab and feel betrayed by Western feminists who don’t support them. Why not ally ourselves with them is a mystery to me. I’m very respectful of Islam, as we all know, and I support these feminist Muslims.

      1. “the way, there are many Muslim feminists”

You’re preaching to the choir. Most of my strong feelings come from Muslim co-workers I’ve known. One woman from an Arab country (practicing muslim) who went for a “mobility” program to a British university and was horrified by having to interact with women in burqas…

Talking to highly educated secularly-oriented muslims is where I get most of my opinions on the middle east and muslim migration to Europe, (Bassam Tibi is not the only educted middle easterner who appreciates Europe and is not impressed by the actual state of migrant communities in Europe).

My own suspicion is that western feminists want to exclude non-western women from being able to compete with them and so they side with anti-woman elements of western culture. It’s virtue signalling that functionally excludes many women from being able to thrive in the context of western culture.

I’m beginning to think that’s the current raison d’etre of intersectionality…. sabotage masquerading as concern.

        1. Interesting idea about sabotage. It is probably unconscious but it definitely clears the ground for unchecked whining about life’s invented difficulties. If you exclude women who experienced actual discrimination, it becomes so much easier to complain about “gender shrapnel.”

I’ll never get over the shrapnel.
