In war, people understand what matters. Ukraine experienced the largest number of weddings in 7 years, and it’s only September. 21% more marriages have been registered than in 2021. The number of divorces has dropped by 42%.

Let’s now wait for the news of a baby boom. We never had one after WWII, and it’s long overdue.

P.S. I’ve already seen a bunch of geniuses online who point out that the maps are incorrect because not every part of the areas shaded in different colors has soldiers in it.

No, soldiers don’t stand shoulder to shoulder holding hands on every square inch of the territory. This is a crucial insight that we were all sorely lacking.

The administration wanted to drive a wedge among department chairs. The chairs of large departments were going to have their salaries raised to a 12-month contract, while the smaller departments would have theirs cut down to a 9-month contract.

Thankfully, we aren’t stupid. We saw immediately that it was being done in preparation for an announcement in a couple of years that this is inequitable and now everybody’s salary would have to be cut down to 9 months. Just for fairness’ sake, obviously.

Chairs stood together in solidarity. Not a single one broke the ranks and agreed to a raise at the cost of the colleagues. And as a result, we all ended up with an 11-month contract.

That’s how you do it. Austerity works by pitting people against each other. Resist every attempt to divide and conquer, and you’ll win. The administration worked heavily their favorite angle of “but isn’t it unfair that you work more and get paid the same?” If we had bought into it, soon enough it would be “but isn’t it unfair those other bastards get paid more than you? Let’s cut them down to size.” First, they bring down the weakest and then use them to attack the strongest. But if we don’t buy into this primitive manipulation, we are unbeatable.

Lets all remember this lesson.

According to various sources within the Russian army, today Russia experienced its biggest military defeat since 1943. The videos of Ukrainians in liberated territories are overwhelming. Russians are threatening to send soldiers who fought in Afghanistan to retake the lost territories. I’m sure these geriatric warriors will be of huge help.

Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting an absolutely superb military operation. It’s amazing to watch.

These are the same wealthier neighborhoods that papered themselves with BLM signs and agitated for defunding the police. (I’m not assuming. I live here and drive through these chi-chi fru-fru neighborhoods regularly). Convenient, eh?

They honestly think they are good, anti-racist people. I’ve talked to well-meaning BLM-ing whites. They are completely sincere. I don’t know how they manage to do it.

What I don’t understand is why LLL is choosing to anger every woman who ever breastfed or is interested in breastfeeding in order to humor a tiny number of men with a rare sex fetish. This looks like a huge self-inflicted hit for no gain. They could have simply not said anything and avoided the whole “male lactation” mess. And this isn’t only about LLL. One organization after another chooses to lose support and anger followers to ingratiate itself to maybe a dozen men nobody would know about otherwise.

LLL is all about the importance of breastfeeding for babies. For them to now switch to the idea that babies should not be breastfed if some guy decides so is quite a huge pivot. There’s quite literally nothing left of their mission if they now believe that breastfeeding is completely unimportant. What can possibly justify such a complete abandonment of your only mission? We all know LLL. They used to be pretty fanatical in their dedication to breastfeeding. And now they just ditch it for absolutely no reason.

I don’t get it.

The borderless neoliberal landmass can purchase mercenaries and whip up anger over manufactured victimizations but it can’t evoke love.

After the recent successes of the Ukrainian army, Russians have started calling it “Special Operation Zадница.” This is a play on the word ass or butt. I’m glad the bastards have a sense of humor. That’s all they are going to have soon enough. 🇺🇦🇺🇦

I only found out that there was supposed to be some deep-seated conflict between the East and the West of Ukraine after emigrating to Canada. It’s all a myth. There is no “civil war” and no language conflict. Everybody is bilingual, nobody cares what language anybody speaks, ethnicity is not a concept anybody understands, and there are no “ethnic Russians.” This was all completely invented by propagandists and eagerly embraced by some Westerners who are projecting their own obsessions on regions they don’t understand.

“Ethnic Russians” is a weird calque from English that I never heard anybody in Ukraine use. We now use it as a joke that’s funny without any additional explanations. Somebody goes, “ethnic Russians,” and everybody collapses with laughter.

Also, since I’m on the subject, somebody asked me recently if Ukrainians are woke. I replied that it’s impossible because we have a sense of humor. We live to take the piss. “Earnest” is a word I use exclusively for mockery. We are not naive, wide-eyed people. We are cynical and jaded. This was true before the war. Imagine what it will be after.
