  1. I truly have no desire to remote control the writer. 🙂

But let’s make this interesting then, shall we?

There were probably enough times in your academic career, especially coming up, when an advisor or one of your professors wanted to remote control you into pursuing their agenda on their behalf.

So let’s do this: how do you stay independent among academics who want to remote control drive you into their personal hot projects and other such things?

This may also be interesting for all of the people who had “conservative conversion experiences” where one day they decided they’d like to stop being remote controlled by Leftists wanting them to press the right buttons and to discuss only the finest of hot button issues in the ways approved of by Leftists.

And so there’s that angle as well. 🙂

    1. I always look hard to see what people’s personal hot projects are. When I find one, I make it happen for that person, and after that we work beautifully together.

The worst part is that there are people with no hot project and no agenda. They kind of float about, reacting situationally to things. As a result of this directionless existence, they are whiney, mopey and infantile.

I love people with personal agendas. I get them. Even when the agenda is cuckoo, such as, for example, having a posse of hangers-on always at one’s beck and call. Any agenda is better than none. And unfortunately, there are way too many people with none.
