My husband said he doesn’t want a birthday gift of a trip to Italy, France or Spain. Instead, he wants a trip to Florida, to our usual place. And he’ll pay for it himself.

Nobody celebrated his birthday in childhood, and I still haven’t managed to get him to perceive it as festive. This is very sad.
