. . . is not me.
It’s a friend of my sister’s who – get this – bought her husband a 10-day scotch – tasting trip to Scotland and arranged for his 3 buddies to go with him. In the meanwhile, she will stay home with their two toddlers and an infant and her very responsible job that allowed her to pay for the trip. And no, she’s not cheating.
I’ve got to say, it would never even begin to occur to me to do something like this. On the positive side, N would perceive a trip without me as punishment, so I don’t have to feel so guilty for not being as good a wife.
I still feel guilty, though.
She have a younger sister in the midwest? I know you would put in a GREAT word for you conservative, thougtful, business minded commenter right? 🙂

Man, that’s a lot of arranging stuff for people. She had to see when he could take the time off, when the buddies would be able to take the time off, then organize for all 4 of them and also pay… (I am pretty sure it would never occur to me to do that for my husband, although he’s a homebody and I don’t know where I would round up 3 people to go with him.)
Was there a reason for the trip (e.g. husband’s a milestone birthday) or was it a “just because” gesture?

And when she had to go away for two days, he was adamantly opposed. So the best wives get very regular husbands. 🙂
The trip was for his birthday.

Ugh…
It seems I am very lucky, then! My husband is very supportive of my work and I travel a lot, so he’s the one holding the fort at home with the kids. This inspired me to do something really special for him soon to show my appreciation!

I hope he has an extra suitcase so he can bring back all of the Scotch he can’t buy in America. 🙂
Every time I visit the States, I have friends ask me for a “little bottle” of Clynelish, a “little bottle” of Benromach, and a few more “little bottles” to the point where I’m paying another £140 to British Airways as well as additional customs duty on arrival …
