I can’t wait until Facebook goes 100% to selling stuff and posting family photos. That’s the really good side of Facebook. I bought two coats for Klara, $50 for both. And sold a $550 gewgaw. Then I looked at the photos of friends’ and colleagues’ kids. What’s not to like?
But no, people have to keep adding text. “As a mother of a cis-gendered white 8-year-old boy I know that my son constitutes a grave danger for the women who will cross his path, yadda yadda yadda.” God, you know? I was a happy person who just sold a gewgaw for a bunch of money and admired some really cute toddler pics. And then I had to see this.

I never buy anything on Facebook. It seems very dangerous to put credit card information on any online platform, but Facebook seems to me more dangerous than most.

Facebook posts ads and then you follow the link to the website of the company. Almost nobody asks for credit card payments. It’s all PayPal now.

The level of outrage in my Facebook feed is out of control. I get it, Kavanaugh is an asshole and so is Trump and we all need to go vote in November. Everybody thinks that or they think the opposite, there is no point in posting about it over and over again.
The good things I’ve found on Facebook recently are work related, I’ve joined several groups related to my teaching and those have provided a slow but steady stream of good ideas and links to useful resources.

FaceBook is the official social media platform of narcs.
I think you can mute/snooze posts from annoying people/groups for 30 days if you want. You can also unfollow people but stay friends.

What grave danger is she talking about? I do not think for a moment she truly believes she is raising a future rapist.
Such texts only prove that many people are happy to repeat currently fashionable sound bites without thinking for a moment what they are writing and whether they believe the opposite of what they publicly express.
Must be easy to create artificial intelligence (computer code) mimicking those people and creating 1001 similar fake users, if somebody deemed it necessary for political reasons. May be somebody has already done this … to inject more idiocy into the Western discourse and make first-world societies take another step on the road to self-distruction.
Would work great for EU citizens, for instance.

I do not use Facebook at all, and I don’t think I’m missing out on anything by not using it.

I like the fact that Facebook has enabled mt to reconnect with people I knew decades ago whom I had wanted to see again, but had given up hope.
